Natural sea salt
Description
Natural sea salt is formed by evaporating seawater under the action of sun and wind, usually in a warm, dry climate. The harvested salt is washed, dried and ground to obtain crystals of different sizes, from 0.3 to 5.0 mm. This process preserves biologically active substances.
An anti-caking agent (E535) and iodine (KIO₃) can be added on request.
Natural sea salt contains naturally occurring trace and major elements, including potassium, sodium, calcium, magnesium, selenium, copper, silicon, iodine, iron, zinc and manganese. These elements are involved in cell nutrition and cleansing, cell membrane formation, nerve impulse transmission, blood clotting, muscle relaxation, nervous-system function and hormonal metabolism.
Sea salt is also used in balneology and skin care. Its action on the skin stimulates blood flow and is described as supporting skin-cell renewal and the healing of irritation and damage. The original product description also associates sea salt consumption with cardiovascular and joint health, immunity and maintaining youthfulness.
Coarse and medium food-grade sea salt is used in soups, in boiling water for vegetables, pasta and rice, for preserving food and for salting fish. Fine sea salt is better suited to finished dishes and table use.
Sea salt has a different taste from ordinary salt and is described as tasting saltier, allowing smaller amounts to be added to dishes.
Sea salt is widely used in cosmetics, including creams, masks, toners and lotions. It is also used for spa treatments and baths, including in combination with herbal treatments.
