This salt is mined from deposits formed about 200 million years ago in the Zechstein Sea. Its high sodium chloride content of 99% and white colour provide a premium-quality product.
When dissolved in water at different concentrations, K+S rock salt for ponds and aquariums is used for the following purposes:
- A certain salinity helps reduce stress in fish, for example after long transport or transfer to a new pond.
- A certain salinity is also used to improve the movement and activity of sluggish fish.
- A salt bath promotes the development of the fish’s protective mucus layer, helps combat parasites and prevent fish diseases.
Water with a certain salinity can also help limit algae growth to some extent.
For freshwater ponds and aquariums containing ornamental fish, such as koi carp.
Prepare a concentrated solution first, then add it gradually in small quantities, distributing it evenly throughout the pond or aquarium. Otherwise, uneven salt concentrations may cause additional stress and harm the fish’s health.
