Rock salt
Food-grade rock salt is used in bakery, meat and fish production, for industrial and household pickling, and for seasoning food.
Food-grade rock salt
Description
Rock salt formed through the natural crystallisation of ocean water in a dry, hot climate. It is extracted by underground mining and crushed into grains measuring 0.16–5.0 mm. Its sodium chloride (NaCl) content is at least 99%.
A range of grain sizes and the option of adding iodine make K+S food-grade rock salt suitable for various areas of food production.
Available grain sizes
- 0.16–0.7 mm
- 0.4–1.4 mm
- 0.2–2.3 mm
- 0.4–2.3 mm

K+S food-grade rock salt can be produced with or without the anti-caking additive E535. It is used in food production and processing as a flavouring and preservative.
K+S food-grade rock salt has been certified to ISO 9001:2008 and meets HACCP certification requirements.
K+S food-grade rock salt is a highly pure product containing trace elements needed for normal bodily function. Like vacuum salt, it is used in bakery, meat and fish production, industrial and household pickling, and for seasoning food.
