Description
In addition to salt (sodium chloride), every animal needs important nutrients such as zinc, manganese, copper, iron, iodine, cobalt and selenium. An unbalanced diet can result in deficiencies of these elements.
Trace-element requirements are individual and can differ even among animals of the same species within a group. Licking salt blocks allows animals to regulate their own salt intake and establish an optimal salt balance.
Copper plays an important role in metabolism and is necessary for haemoglobin formation. Although it is not part of haemoglobin itself, it is essential for red blood cells and their activity in circulation. It is involved in many enzymes and in hair and feather pigments. Copper is present in all animal cells, particularly in the liver, where reserves are stored.
Copper deficiency in feed can cause anaemia, delayed growth, diarrhoea, depigmentation of hair and feathers, and injury to spinal nerves. In cows, a deficiency is associated with an absence of oestrus; in bulls, it can cause degeneration of the germinal epithelium in the testes and infertility.
The product is a grey block of compressed salt. It is practical, simple and convenient to use.
SOLSEL Multi copper-containing mineral lick blocks are used for all animal species except sheep. Their size and weight are particularly suitable for cattle, horses, pigs and goats. They are also used for wildlife in nature reserves and hunting areas.
Provide free access to the block near a water source. Secure it where possible and protect it from moisture.
